BASEBALL

Cardinal Mooney 11, North Canton Hoover 1

STRUTHERS

Winning pitcher J.T. Ogden had two hits and scored twice for the Cardinals (5-1). Ogden struck out one and walked none in the five-inning game. Brennen Olesh also had two hits and he drove in two runs. Johnnie Mikos scored three runs and Anthony Potesta doubled. For the Vikings (7-3), Cody Wilson and Bryce Grisez each had two hits while Jordan Hite doubled.

Austintown Fitch 17, Poland 6

AUSTINTOWN

Cameron Burton had three hits and five RBIs to lead the Fitch offense. Nick Bianco added a pair of hits and three RBIs. Nick Belcik, Mike Grazier and Bobby Russo doubled and Vinnie Direnzo tripled. Braeden O’Shaughnessy led Poland with two hits and an RBI.Cole Kosco matched him with two hits and an RBI.

West Branch 9, Canfield 8

BELOIT

The Warriors (7-1) scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 4-0 deficit. They again erased a deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Canfield (5-5) rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth. The Warriors’ offense was led by Jon Snyder and David Cunningham, who had two hits and two RBIs each. TJ DeShields added two hits and an RBI. For Canfield, Spencer Woolley had two hits including a double and drove in two runs.

South Range 12, Howland 6

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

South Range totaled 18 hits, led by Ben Rivera with four hits and four RBIs. Jared Bajerski and Jaxon Anderson added three hits and an RBI each for the Raiders and Brycen James knocked in three runs. Jackson Deemer hit a three-run homer for Howland.

Niles 7, Ashtabula Lakeside 4

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP

Nick Guarnieri, David Mays and Joe Corson had two hits and two RBIs each for Niles. Shoun Matlock had two hits and an RBI for Lakeside.

Hubbard 3, Edgewood 1

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP

Ryan Halavick pitched a complete game, striking out six for Hubbard (6-4). Dom Hover, Tim Herberger and Evan Jarvis had an RBI each and Lukas Mosora added two doubles. Edgewood is 2-5.

Crestview 10, LaBrae 0

EAST FAIRFIELD

Tyler Hurd worked five scoreless innings and struck out four for the Rebels. Jeff Feo had three hits, scored three runs and drove in another. Dylan Ball had three RBIs.

Western Reserve 13, Lowellville 3

BERLIN CENTER

Western Reserve scored seven runs in the third to extend its lead to 9-0. Ryan Slaven was the winning pitcher for the Blue Devils (5-1, 4-0 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference). Slaven pitched four innings and struck out seven. Slaven was 2-for-4 from the plate with four RBIs and two runs scored. Anthony Petrovich took the loss for the Rockets. He allowed nine runs on five hits in three innings pitched.

Mineral Ridge 13, Lisbon 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Mineral Ridge outscored Lisbon 8-3 in the first three innings. Mineral Ridge’s Taylor Squric and Dakota Edwards drove in three runs apiece. Mason Rance drove in two runs for the Blue Devils and Jake Teetens had two RBIs and a run scored. Lisbon pitcher Jacob Carfalo allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings. Carfalo and Koby Zupko had two hits a piece.

Southern 15, Sebring 1

SEBRING

Brock Smalley and Conner Lewis each had two hits for the Indians. Smalley drove in three runs while Bradley Sloan and Nick Paxson each drove in two. Caleb Glover struck out 13 batters in the five-inning game. Trent Richie had the Trojans’ only hit.

SOFTBALL

Ursuline 8, Springfield 7

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Ursuline went up 7-0 through five innings before Springfield tied the game in the seventh. Macy Ross hit her second single in the eighth, stole second base and scored on Maris Barbato’s third hit and fourth RBI. Jenna O’Hara and Jordyn Kenneally added two hits each for the Irish. Mya Duskey and Jacqueline Kish had two hits during the Tigers’ rally. Molly Pontius added three RBIs in the last two innings. One of Kish’s hits added two RBIs.

Cardinal Mooney 11, Howland 0

BOARDMAN

Kayla Rutherford pitched a no-hitter and struck out 10 as the Cardinals (5-0) stayed perfect in a win at Fields of Dreams. Caitie Perry homered, doubled and drove in four runs a day after matching a Cardinal Mooney record with three home runs in a win over Western Reserve Acadeny. Conchetta Rinaldi tripled and Rutherford and Brooke Chandler each had two hits. Rutherford had three RBIs. Howland fell to 1-3.

Boardman 16, Warren Harding 2

BOARDMAN

Vanessa Roush had four hits including two doubles and five RBIs in the Spartans’ victory. Paige Dill was 3 for 4 with three RBIs for Boardman. Jenny Taraszewski pitched a five-inning complete game, struck out six and allowed just two hits.

Champion 7, Akron Hoban 2

AKRON

Allison Smith homered and drove in three runs to aid her own cause for the unbeaten Golden Flashes (7-0). Smith improved to 4-0 in the pitcher’s circle, scattered nine hits and struck out 11. Abbi Grace had three hits for Champion and Abby White and Gabby Hollenbaugh each had two. White and Hollenbaugh doubled and Grace drove in two runs. Chleo Weidrick and Jessica Knicely each had two hits for Hoban.

South Range 3, Marlington 0

ALLIANCE

Bree Kohler tossed a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking one. Madison Weaver contributed two hits including a homer. She finished with two RBIs and two runs scored. Hanna Dennison doubled for the Raiders.

Western Reserve 8, Lowellville 4

STRUTHERS

Gracie Wayland doubled to snap a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning. She scored three runs. Layla Woolf doubled and drove in three runs for the Blue Devils (6-1, 4-0 MVAC. She struck out eight and walked three. Morgan Donithan doubled and drove in three runs. Maddie Orock also had two RBIs. For the Rockets (0-2-1, 0-2), Olivia Sotlar had two singles and drove in a run. Madison Kelly singled and scored twice. Isabell Sotlar struck out 10 and walked five.

Lisbon 13, Mineral Ridge 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Kenedy Vrable’s three hits included a triple and drove in four runs. Autumn Oehlstrom’s three hits drove in five runs and included a double. Emma Thompson had two hits including a double and Lindsi Welsh scored three times. For the Rams, Ariel Laneve singled and drove in a run.

Southeast 9-15, Jackson-Milton 6-0

NORTH JACKSON

In game one, Kayla Dremann had three hits and two RBIs for Southeast. Jordon Stratton had two hits and two RBIs for Jackson-Milton. In game two, Southeast got its offense from Kayla Prater (three hits, three RBIs) and McKenna Miller (two hits, three RBIs).

West Branch 2, Canton GlenOak 1

BELOIT

Peyton Alazaus hit a walk-off RBI single for the Warriors. West Branch’s Jordan Anderson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kelsey Byers was the winning pitcher for the Warriors (7-0), tossing a complete game and allowed five hits while striking out seven. GlenOak’s (3-1) Olivia Otani allowed six hits and and four walks.

Salem 2, United 0

SALEM

Taylor Thorpe pitched a complete game for Salem (7-2) and struck out 15 batters while allowing just one hit. Bailee Thorn, Elly Exline, Brooke Veglia and Sydney Kline each had a hit for Salem. Annie Patterson had nine strikeouts for United.

Mathews 17, Bloomfield 0

VIENNA

Addy Jarvis (6-0) and Savannah Eggens combined for the five-inning no-hitter for the Mustangs (7-0, 5-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Jarvis struck out nine batters. Her four hits included three homers and she drove in four runs. Bailey Hall‘s three hits included a triple and double, and she drove in three runs. Alivia Oulton’s three hits included two doubles and she contributed three RBIs. Bloomfield is 3-2, 3-2.

Newbury 19, Pymatuning Valley 18

NEWBURY

Haley Hamilton had four hits, drove in three runs and stole three bases and Sage Neidbalson had three hits, two RBIs. stole two bases and scored three runs for the Black Knights (2-1).

Badger 7, Sotuhington 3

SOUTHINGTON

Camryn Zec had a triple and two RBI for Badger. Zec also had two steals. Emily Snezik added a double and an RBI for the Braves.

CHAMPION

Allison Smith pitched a no-hitter and struck out nine for the Golden Flashes. Megan Turner had three hits and knocked in three runs for Champion (6-0). Carli Swipas and Kiersten Jones drove in two runs each.

Tori Wells had two hits and drove in five runs for Lakeview (4-0). Avery Steiner had four hits, including two doubles and scored three runs. Cait Kelm was the winning pitcher for Lakeview, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in a complete game. Mackenzie Maze and Emily O’Connell had hits for Howland (1-3).
