Youngstown police conduct raids, find drugs, guns at South Side homes

YOUNGSTOWN — Police used search warrants at separate South Side homes, where there found an assortment of drugs and guns.

Police searched a home about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at a 42 W. Marion Ave. and found 34 bags of suspected marijuana, two guns, five pills, a scale and $606 cash.

Additionally police cited a Boardman woman, Frances Turner, 26, for child endangering because she left her three children in the home just before members of the vice squad and Community Police Unit arrived.

The homeowner, Rafael Samaniego, 26, was arrested on charges of possession of drugs, trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as several warrants from municipal court.

Reports said Turner was cited for leaving her children in "deplorable conditions." Reports said she told police Samaniego is her boyfriend.

Police condemned the house after they left, reports said.

About 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, at a 414 W. Judson Ave. home police found a 9mm handgun, ammunition, suspected crack cocaine and more than $1,000 cash.

Arrested on drug charges was Devon White, 26, who lists the home as his address.

Vice squad members and Community Police Unit served the warrant.
