Some Campbell businesses wrongly paid income tax to Youngstown, mayor says

A group of Campbell businesses may have been paying income taxes to the city of Youngstown for years, according to Mayor Nick Phillips.

At least one business, the Dairy Queen on McCartney Road, is confirmed to have paid its income taxes to the incorrect municipality.

Campbell administrators have been investigating the situation for the past month.

“So far we haven’t seen any evidence this was done intentionally, so no harm, no foul there,” Phillips said, “But Youngstown is going to need to pay us that money back.”

Phillips said the Regional Income Tax Agency identified an additional five businesses that may have been paying the income tax incorrectly.
