Mahoning Dems want to know DeWine's position on Medicaid expansion

Mahoning County Democratic officials want to know where Attorney General Mike DeWine, the Republican frontrunner for governor, stands on Medicaid expansion.

A news conference today outside Democratic Party headquarters came a few hours before Secretary of State Jon Husted, DeWine’s lieutenant governor running mate, is to make a campaign stop at America Makes in downtown Youngstown.

“It’s very important we understand what our candidates are doing for our local governments,” said county Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti. “When you start cutting Medicaid expansion, you start hurting the lives of those people that are the most vulnerable.”

DeWine has said the expansion is fiscally unsustainable, but hasn’t discussed his plan whether he’ll get rid of the expansion that covers an additional 700,000 poor people, including 18,000 in Mahoning County.
