Mahoning County Coroner's office receives state funding for toxicology screenings

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s office received $10,806 in state funding from the Ohio Department of Health to help cover the cost of toxicology screenings conducted after suspected drug-overdose deaths.

The state allocated $2 million to coroner’s offices across the state in the 2018-2019 state budget. The money is allocated in proportion to the number of toxicology screenings performed per county.

The office may be eligible for additional funding over the next two years, according to a health department news release.
