RI church covers vandalized rainbow doors with paper hearts
The pastor of a Rhode Island church says he invited his congregation to cover a rainbow-colored display with pink paper hearts as a symbol of love after it was damaged in a reported act of vandalism.
The display at Woodridge Congregational United Church of Christ in Cranston features a series of doors painted in the colors of the rainbow and bearing the message “God’s doors are open to all.” Police were called Sept. 17 after the pastor found slats on two of the doors broken.
The Providence Journal reports churchgoers placed hearts on the broken doors this week. The pastor says they will remain for now as a reminder of what happened, but the doors will replaced before the display is returned to the church that loaned it to them.
