BGJHS cross country competes in East Palentine

The BGJHS cross country teams completed in the East Palestine Invitational on Sept. 9. The boys finished second and the girls finished fourth. The top seven runners to score for the boys were Ben Alvrico, Ben Zilavy, Andrew Yocum, Brady DePietro, Jack Dascenzo, Josh Zilavy and Ryne Loftus. The top seven runners for the girls were Lauren Bero, Ali White, Kaitlin Hagen, Lexi Mihok, Kathleen Sullivan, Adrianna Quinlan and Sophia Hoffman.

BGJHS cross country teams finish first and fourth

The BGJHS boys cross country team raced to an impressive first place finish at their meet in Columbiana on Sept. 4. The girls team finished a solid fourth. For the boys team, Ben Alvarico finished third overall. The next runners to score for the team were Ben Zilavy, Jack Dascenzo, Josh Zilavy, Andrew Yocum, Trey DePietro and Jack Graff. The top seven runners for the girls were Lauren Bero (6th), Kaitlin Hagen, Alizabeth White, Kathleen Sullivan, Sophia Hoffman, Adrianna Quinlan and Lexi Mihok.

Victory over Crestview for girls soccer, 8-1

Boardman girls soccer defeated Crestview 8-1. Scoring goals for Boardman were Cara Higgins (3), Anna deeley (2), and Julia Yauger, Delaney Pollak and Isabella Alvarico with one each. Contributing assists were Isabella Alvarico (1), Cara Higgins (3) and Anna Deeley (2). Saves for the team were Camille Holzschuh (7) and Taylor Mellington (6).

Eighth-grade football loses to Youngstown Catholic

Boardman Glenwood Junior High eighth-grade football lost to Youngstown Catholic 28-12. Leading the team in passing is Jason Triveri with 75 yards and a 15 yard touchdown. Top players in rushing are Sean O’Horo (40 yards) Marcel Tomlin (15 yards), Jason Triveri (15 yards) and Ashton LaBelle (10 yards) and a touchdown. Top players in receiving are Cameron Thompson (25 yards), Stephen Conti (20 yards), Carter Mraz (15 yards) and a touchdown, Raymond Cmil (10 yards) and Sean O’Horo (5 yards). Leading tacklers were Stephen Conti and Sean O’Horo. Reshaud Biggs had an interception.

BCB to have annual meeting on Sept. 25

Boardman Community Baseball will host its annual meeting on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Fields of Dreams, located at 410 McClurg Road. Election of board members and officers will occur. Neighbors wants autumn sports news

Autumn athletics have arrived and Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need your help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages.

We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
