Hopewell Theatre adds shows to ‘Fences’ run

Staff report

The Hopewell Theatre has extended the run of “Fences,” adding two performances this weekend.

The drama by playwright August Wilson, which was made into an Oscar-winning film last year, played to full houses the past two weekends.

The additional shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The theater (formerly known as the Victorian Players) is at 705 Mahoning Ave.

Tickets are $13 ($10 for seniors and students) and can be reserved by calling 330-746-5455.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play is arguably Wilson’s most renowned work. It explores the life and relationships of the Maxson family in 1950s Pittsburgh.

Directed by Carla D. Gipson, the Hopewell’s production features a cast that includes John McCants, Jaietta Jackson, DC Colvin, Duane Davis, Daniel Colvin, Kevin Stringer and Keyirra LaBooth.
