History of Poland churches and trip to Cambridge is on agenda
The Poland Historical Society will have its next meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road, at the intersection of U.S. Route 224.
After the meeting at 7:30, there will be a program about the history of Poland churches. Earlier this year, the society invited representatives from the four oldest churches in Poland to talk about their history. This month the focus will be on Holy Family Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Poland Village Baptist Church and Bethel Friends Church.
The Society has also announced plans for a fundraiser bus trip to Cambridge, Ohio, to visit the Charles Dickens Village Nov. 15. The bus departs from Poland Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, at 8:30 a.m. and arrives in Cambridge at 11:00.
The schedule includes a guided tour of the Dickens Historical Village mannequins; Kennedy’s Bakery; Guernsey County Historical Society; lunch on your own at Theo’s, a home-cooking style restaurant; downtown shopping in unique shops; Cambridge Glass Museum; and Dickens Courthouse Light Show.
The bus departs for home at 6 p.m. The cost is $85 per person, and includes bus and all admissions, but not lunch.
Proceeds will benefit the efforts of the Poland Historical Society in preserving the history of Poland.
