Many made 4th annual Run for Caitlin a success

On behalf of Run for Caitlin and the Yager and Delost families, I would like to thank all who came out to support the memory of Caitlin Yager by attending the 4th Annual Run for Caitlin, which took place July 22, 2017. In spite of the rainy weather, there was strong support from the community.

We want to especially thank the Canfield Police Department for keeping everyone safe and providing traffic control and to the Canfield Board of Education for permitting us to use their facilities.

We were overwhelmed by the thoughtful and thorough Vindicator article written by Sean Barron as well as the beautiful photographs taken by Dustin Livesay. Thank you both for the outstanding and considerate coverage of our event.

Thanks also to Jennifer Brindisi, 21 WFMJ-TV News midday anchor, for featuring the Yager family and our event on the midday show.

We appreciate your kindness, sensitivity, and support as we prepared for the 4th Annual Run for Caitlin.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the 5th Annual Run for Caitlin.

Maria Delost, Struthers

Delost is director of Fund Raising – Run for Caitlin, Inc.

Kudos to Boardman Band

Bravo and a standing ovation to Boardman Marching Band Director Thomas Ruggieri for his band’s performance recently at Howland Band Night. The band’s performance was the single best I have ever seen in a marching band. The level of participation was astounding, and he was able to harness his obvious passion for his art into his band. Seriously, an Eddie Van Halen guitar solo that rocked the stadium! Vocal performances that were full of passion. It was a performance for the record books.

I was so impressed by the routine I sought out Mr. Ruggieri to express how tremendous I thought the show was. He went beyond teaching his students how to be good marchers; he created music lovers for life.

Boardman should be very proud of its band and director. You rocked it out of the park.

Meet went swimmingly

On July 26, I attended the Poland Swim Meet Championship. I’m not a member but went to watch my grandkids from Applewood Swim Club competing. I would like to say a big Thank You to the volunteers manning the parking. They were so accommodating, offering to take me by golf cart to the entrance which wasn’t that far and leaving was the same thing. So willing to get me back to my car. I chose to walk, but they were so very helpful. I think the whole meet was run very smoothly.

Great job Poland Swim Club.
