METRO DIGEST || Motorcyclist charged
The operator of a motorcycle that crashed May 17 on the Madison Avenue Expressway, killing his passenger, was charged Friday in municipal court with misdemeanor vehicular homicide. A summons will be issued for Scott Quiggle, 52, of Warren, who police said crashed just after 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the expressway. Killed was Eileen Hahn, 47, of Warren. No court date has been set.
A Youngstown man accused of brutally beating a functionally impaired man was arrested again as he showed up to court for a pretrial. Davanzo Tate, Senior, 60, was taken into custody Friday morning from Judge Elizabeth Kobly’s Youngstown Municipal courtroom and arrested on a new felony assault charge, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. Tate, who worked for Synergy Enrichment, was supposed to provide basic care for individuals with disabilities. Instead, one of several videos shows him slamming a chair over the patient’s body and threatening to kill him. He was terminated from his job, and went before Judge Kobly by video arraignment from the Mahoning County Jail on Friday afternoon on the new charge. His $15,000 bond was continued.
Niles Police Department and Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force charged Eric J. Winters, 46, of Fulton Street with cocaine possession after concluding a two-month investigation involving his home. Investigators found suspected crack cocaine during the search. Additional charges are pending. Winters was booked into the county jail. Weathersfield police assisted. The investigation included undercover drug buys, said Niles Capt. John Marshall.
