Jitters calmed at kindergarten orientation

There are more than 100 new Bulldogs at Poland Union Elementary School this year.

The kindergarten class spent Aug. 23 getting familiar with their new school, and meeting teachers at orientation.

“Wednesday’s orientation is a great way to welcome students. In addition to getting to know their way around the building, kindergarten students get to meet their teachers,” said Mike Masucci, Principal at Poland Union Elementary.

“This has proven to be a great way to minimize anxiety and has always led to a great start to the school year.”

Kindergarten students were encouraged to bring their‚ã‚ã school supplies with them on orientation day, to make the “real” first day easier.

“No student needs to be weighed down with 50 pounds of crayons, glue, folders,” said Masucci.

Poland Union is also home for all first- and second-graders in the district.

Each grade also had orientation sessions on Aug. 23.

Aug. 28 was the first day of school for Poland Local Schools.
