Student sessions


The Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University will host the 21st annual Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the Conference Center of Williamson Hall.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend panel sessions on topics such as opportunities in accounting, finance, communication and networking, an overview of the Lariccia School’s Masters of Accountancy Program, what the first two years of professional life are like, internships, using your resume and LinkedIn, gathering forensic evidence, design thinking and women in accounting and finance.

Chocolate for kids


Gorant Chocolatier has partnered with Northeast Ohio Adoption Services to provide sweet treats to the organization’s foster children.

From now until Sweetest Day on Saturday, customers can purchase a candy bar to donate to the children of Northeast Ohio Adoption Services. Gorant will match the community’s donation.

The agency, located in Warren, began in 1978 and provides foster and adoption services to teenage and school-age children throughout the region.

Since its creation in 1922, Sweetest Day has now evolved into a time to express romantic love and friendship. It is celebrated on the third Saturday of every October.

New office space


Eastgate Regional Council of Governments will have new office space in the Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center in downtown Warren.

Eastgate is responsible for a variety of federal, state and local planning and project implementation programs.

Eastgate’s main office will remain in downtown Youngstown at the City Center One building. The satellite office at TBEIC will be used by Eastgate staff at various times throughout the work week as they continue planning in the areas of economic development, public transit, the Appalachian Regional Commission and various highway and infrastructure projects.

KSU career fair


Kent State University at Trumbull will have a career fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

More than 40 employers will be at the event looking for prospective employees, so business attire and a supply of resumes are suggested. The fair will be in the Classroom/Administration Building, Kent State at Trumbull, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The event is free. It is also mobility and hearing accessible.
