GIRLS TENNIS

Canfield had two doubles teams qualify for the Division I district tournament at Springside Racquet & Fitness Club in Akron.

But both teams lost in three sets in the first round on Thursday. Magnificat’s Olivia Rondini and Alexandra Vesikallio defeated Canfield’s Anya Kan and Kate Ross 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. And Westlake’s Demetria Jhaveri and Ashley Michelich won 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 over Canfield’s Sydney Cianciola and Cece Economus.

Canfield was the only local team to qualify in Division I. No local tennis players qualified individually.

RJ Thomas scored one for Canfield and Hunter Hale with an assist from Sam Accordino scored the other. Jad Jadallah had 12 saves for the Cardinals and Colton Wade had 14 saves for Marlington. Micah Kaiser scored the single goal for the Dukes.

COLUMBIANA

The Rebels scored first with a goal by Mitch Lindsay. Aidan Harr scored the goal for New Philadelphia. Costen Santelmo made 11 saves for Crestview (5-9-2) and Josh Kaiser from New Philadelphia made four saves.

Mineral Ridge 5, East Palestine 0

EAST PALESTINE

Gonzalo Arnes, Braedynn Porter, Garret Smith, Dylan Henning and TJ Gaydosh each had a goal for Mineral Ridge (12-3). Assists were made by Smith, Henning and Ian Bitner. Jacob Carfolo made five saves and gave the Rams their fourth shutout of the season.

Girard 8, Southeast 0

RAVENNA

Girard scored seven goals in the second half. Donald Miller, Stephen Gamble and Antonio Valdez all scored two goals each. Austin O’Hara and Brennan Kuzman both scored once. Southeast had three saves.

Boardman 2, Harding 0

BOARDMAN

Sean Buck and Alexander Wood scored the two goals for the Spartans. Assists were made by Dom Barber and Jacob Smotzer. Jeffery Holmes made four saves as keeper. Stats for Harding were not provided.

Contributing toward the Bulldogs’ (11-2-3) goals were Raegan Rosenberger and Sam Yanci with two each and Maddy Clark and Hailey Raines with one each. Bella Kakious had two assists, Sarah Kloboves, Hailey Raines, Yanci and Clark added one each. Caitee Kachurik made seven saves and Emily Kosmas made 16 saves for Harding.

Logan Schnable scored four goals to earn her 100th career goal and Sadie Vogt added one for the Eagles. Stats for Lake Center Christian were not provided.

Alexis Hughes had 13 digs and 20 kills for the Blue Devils. Laura Sigworth had 15 digs, 25 assists and 15 points. For the Bluejays, Ashley Cameron had eight kills and five blocks while Taylor Hayes had 17 points, seven kills and 10 digs.

EAST PALESTINE

East Palestine’s Maraina Frye had 14 kills. Madyson Pickey had 16 assists and four aces for the Bulldogs while teammate Madee Foster had 46 digs. Jackson-Milton’s Grace McDevitt had 12 kills and Ashley Cameron had 11 kills and four blocks. Bailey Estes had 16 assists for the Blue Jays.

Springfield 25-25-25, Leetonia 4-14-7

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Springfield’s Lyndsey Smith had 10 kills and Mariah Johnson had six. Makenzy Capouellez had 11 aces and Kaelin Yemma had 23 assists for the Tigers. Jennie Stitzel had seven kills and Morgan Santangelo had five aces. No stats were reported for Leetonia.

Newton Falls 25-25-25, Campbell 22-19-25

CAMPBELL

Taylor Bednarcik had 13 points and 12 digs for the Tigers. Izzy Kline had 17 kills and six blocks and Elizabeth Boone had seven kills, 12 assists and seven digs for Newton Falls (17-5, 9-1). They finish as the All American Conference champions for the third year in a row. Stats for Campbell were not provided.

For the Falcons, Lainie Simons had 15 service points, four aces, 11 kills and 16 digs. Chelsea Wheeler had 2 blocks and Nichole Noday made 12 assists. For the Indians, Kacie Speina had 10 kills, four blocks, 11 service points and three aces. Natalie Palone had 12 kills, eight blocks and eight service points and Jenna Bornemiss had 13 assists and seven service points.

Hubbard’s Adria Powell had 29 kills, 18 digs and four blocks. Silvia Genoni had 12 kills and 13 digs for the Eagles. Teammates Ruthie Sandberg had 14 digs and Kristin Fahndrich had 41 assists. No stats were reported for Lakeside.

KINSMAN

Megan Haynie was the leading server for the Mustangs and had six aces and 24 assists. Addy Jarvis had 17 kills and Alivia Oulton had 15 digs. Mathews clinched a share of the NAC League Champsionship with their win tonight. Stats for Badger were not provided.

For the Rockets, Bailey Lewis had 15 points, 20 receptions and 21 digs, Courtney Hubbard had 10 blocks and Maria Danko had 17 kills. No stats for Pymatuning Valley were provided.

Caleigh Hamby helped the Black Knights win with 11 kills, 11 assists and three blocks. Abigail Grubbs had 10 points and 14 assists and Sarah Zembiak had eight points and five aces. This win earned Newbury a share of the NAC Championship. Hailie Durst had nine points and three aces for Bristol. Kylie King had five kills and Kendyl Switzer had 15 blocks for the Panthers.
