Choir, alliance salute city’s musical heroes

WARREN

The Warren City Wide Youth Choir is joining with the Trumbull County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance in presenting the third annual “Salute to Warren’s Musical Heroes” honoring Bro. Van Nelson on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1510 Main Ave. SW.

This is a ticketed event, NO offering will be received. All proceeds benefit the WCWYC scholarship fund. Adult tickets are $10 ($5 for ages 8-17, free for age 7 and under) and can be purchased in advance at https://squareup.com/store/wcwyc/ or at the door the night of the concert.

Pierogi Day events at the Federal bar

PolishYoungstown will celebrate National Pierogi Day on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., at The Federal bar and grill, 110 W. Federal St., downtown.

A wide variety of pierogi will be sold to be enjoyed on the site or to go. There will also be Polish music, beer, vodka and a pierogi making demonstration by chef Tad Siembida at lunchtime.

The pierogi, hand-made by Krakus Deli in Boardman, will come in the following flavors: Buffalo chicken, blueberry, cabbage, kraut, potato and cheese and meat. To order, call 330-720-0844.

Rocktoberfest event with ribs and music

Rocktoberfest: Battle of the BBQ Brethren will take place this weekend at Lawrence County Fairgrounds, 464 Midway Road. Hours are 5-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15. A car show, live music and several rib cookers will be on hand.
