Community Fest at Skate Zone
Skate Zone Fun Center, 5420 Mahoning Ave., will present a free Community Fest on Saturday.
Families will be able to discover local businesses, and network with fire, police and health officials, in a fun atmosphere. Participating are Dairy Queen, Great Clips, Austintown fire and police departments, Target, AutoZone, Chick-Fil-A, Akron Children’s Hospital, Diet Doc, Magic Bob, Family Video, Marco’s Pizza, Planet Fitness, Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse, Summit Academy and Mahoning County Health Department.
The event will include face painting, magic tricks, crafts and some children’s favorite characters. All Skate Zone attractions – skating, golfing, Web City, laser tag and the arcade – will be $2 each. One free attraction pass will be given for every two cans donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Music at Noon concerts at Butler
The Dana School of Music’s Music at Noon series at the Butler Institute of American, 524 Wick Ave., has announced its concerts for October. All performances begin at 12:15 p.m.
Wednesday: Clarinet ensemble
Oct. 11: Faculty recital
Oct. 18: Tuba and euphonium recital
Oct. 25: Percussion ensemble
The Friendly Squares monthly square dance will be Oct. 14, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. Neil Harner will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances. The theme is Halloween. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Admission is $6.
