Fitch students host spaghetti dinner for local veterans

« Austintown Neighbors

On Dec. 5, seven Fitch High School students will serve a spaghetti dinner to about 50 local Vietnam veterans in the high school cafeteria.

Seniors Michael Ferree, Nate Armstrong, Jakari Lumsden, Breylon Douglas, Dylan Correia, Katilyn Carson and Catlin Correia are serving the Vietnam veterans as part of a senior service project.

“We really wanted to give back to the community and specifically wanted to give back to the veterans,” said Michael Ferree who is part of the group.

The Vietnam vets will enjoy a performance by the Fitch Concert choir in addition to their dinner. They will also be presented with certificate, bumper sticker and lapel pin as a "thank you" for their service.

The students thank the Fitch Class of ‘62, who donated the funds for the veterans dinner and to Rachel’s Restaurant for supplying the pasta, meatballs, salad and rolls.
