Devils boys run to second place in state
McDonald’s boys cross country team finished second in Saturday’s Division state tournament at National Trail Raceway.
McDonald recorded 140 points, 20 more than state champion East Canton.
Gilmour Academy was third with 14.
In the girls race, McDonald’ finished third with 138 points. Minster won with 34 and Mount Gilead was second with 131. Maplewood was 15th (344).
In the boys race, Ethan Domitrovich led the Blue Devils with an 18th-place finish (16:26.2).
Brody Rupe was 46th (16:53.4), Zack Canada was 48th (16:54.1), Connor Symbolik was 56th (16:59), Carson Fortune was 71st (17:09.6), Elliott Gibbons was 117th (17:50) and Zack Dean was 125th (17:54.6).
Maplewood’s Ethan Sparks finished 12th (16:18.9) and Adam Burgard was 62nd (17:03.4) while LaBrae’s Jakob Rose was 79th (17:16) and Badger’s Lincoln Hopkins was 88th (17:21.7).
DIVISION III GIRLS
Anna Guerra led the Blue Devils girls with an eighth-place finish (19:12.3). Minster’s Emma Watcke won with a time of 18:38.4.
McDonald’s other finishers were: Sela Jones, 31st, 19:50.7; Claire Hoffman, 56th, 20:17; Bella Wolford, 62nd, 20:24.7; Malina Mitchell, 90th, 20:49.7; Alyssa Lynch, 99th, 20:56.9; and Sophie Klase, 142nd, 21:43.1.
Badger’s Miranda Stanhope placed 16th (19:18.1) and East Palestine’s Alexis Cunningham was 18th (19:19.6).
Maplewood’s Charlotte Crouch was 67th (20:26.7) while Bella Kellar was 115th (21:14.4) and Emily Kohlmorgan was 116th (21:14.4). Lydia Manes was 128th (21:26.5) and Kylee Sheeley was 136th (21:34.4). Brianna Starcher was 14st (21:43) and Sydney Morris was 180th (24:21.2).
In the Div. I boys race, Canfield’s Giovanni Copploe was 33rd (16:11).
In the Div. II boys race, Salem’s Hunter Christopher was 23rd (16:30.3), South Range’s Ian Pierson was 112th (17:31)
In the girls race, Poland’s Maggie Sebest finished 37th (19:24) and Salem’s Carly Hall was 39th (19:24.5). Niles’ Hailey Zelinsky was 59th (19:48) and Howland’s Maria Dellimuti was 84th (20:07.8).
