Piccolo Palooza aims to set record

CANFIELD

The Canfield Community Concert Band will present The John Philip Sousa Piccolo Palooza on June 27 at Austintown Township Park, Kirk Road.

The band is inviting area piccolo players to join in a performance of Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” in an effort to set a world record for number of piccolos playing the piece.

Players of any age are invited to sign up at canfieldccband.org. The concert begins at 7 p.m. For more information, contact band president Leann Rich at lrich1216@gmail.com.

Thrival Music Fest reveals its lineup

PITTSBURGH

The Thrival Music Festival’s lineup will include Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Carnage, GriZ and Two Doo Cinema Club.

The festival will take place Sept. 29-30 at the Carrie Furnaces site. Two-day general admission and VIP festival passes go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Go to thrivalfestival.com.

JCC seeks youths for swim team

YOUNGSTOWN

The Jewish Community Center is enrolling children for its summer youth team in the Youngstown Swim League. Participants must be between the ages of 4 and 18 and be able to swim one length of the pool independently. Practices will be at the JCC’s Logan Campus outdoor pool June 1 to July 29. Kimmel will return as Oscars host

LOS ANGELES

Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 90th Oscars, it was announced Tuesday. Ratings for the 89th Oscars this past February were the lowest since 2008 with 32.9 million viewers. The 90th Oscars will be on March 4, 2018, in Los Angeles and broadcast live on ABC.
