Children and their families hopped to Boardman Park to spend an evening together with the Easter Bunny.

The two-night event started in 2013 and is an annual tradition for some families. Dinner with the Easter Bunny was hosted on April 5 and 6 with both of the nights sold out.

“It’s a great holiday, fun event for families to enjoy taking a picture with the Easter Bunny, doing some crafts, having dinner and they get to watch ‘Peter Cottontail,’” said Karen McCallum, Boardman Park recreation director.

Families enjoyed a dinner of chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, fishsticks, vegetables, bread and butter, applesauce, dessert and of course carrots. “Peter Cottontail” played on the screen for the families to watch as they ate their dinner.

The Easter Bunny was available for pictures and the guests who took a picture with the bunny were able to take home a hard copy at the end of the night.

One of the favorite parts of the night was the bunny, Oreo, who was brought in by a 4-H member. The families had the opportunity to pet Oreo and talk to the 4-H members who were there.

“It’s part of the parks mission of the diversity of programming for families in the community,” said McCallum.

There were tables full of crafts the children could make. The children colored bunny ears, made a foam bunny and plenty of others that they could take home with them.

The next Boardman Park event with be the Mommy and Me for Tea and Fashion show on May 7.
