The Poland library hosted a day full of different St. Patrick’s Day festivities for people of all ages to enjoy on March 11.

The morning started out with a Leprechaun Magic Show put on by Fritz Coombs, also known as Coombs the Conjurer. Coombs did a variety of magic tricks dressed up as a leprechaun. While some of the magic tricks were solo tricks, Coombs did several tricks that used the children in the audience as helpers.

After the show was finished, the children, many dressed in green, orange and white, lined up to prepare for the parade. Poland librarians Amanda Kollar and Vikki Peck passed out green and white streamers for the children to wave. Coombs made his way to the front of the line as he led the children on a parade through the library. The children went upstairs and back down as they waved their streamers. Every child who participated in the parade entered for a chance to win a book of Irish fairy tales.

A story time followed the parade as a way for children to relax. Before the story began, the winner of the Irish fairy tales book was chosen.

The activities ended with a scavenger hunt for children in sixth grade and under. The scavenger hunt provided a good opportunity for the guests to visit Kravitz Deli and see their selection of Irish food.

Burke Irish Dancers came in as the last act of the afternoon. Many of the guests stayed to watch the dancers before they made their way back home.

The Leprechaun Lollapalooza event at the Poland library is always an event where many people come in to enjoy the festivities.
