Pawlowski’s polka party with Gabriel, Sinchak, Mike D


Valley polka radio host Val Pawlowski will present her 66th birthday party polka dance and barbecue Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the SNPJ Recreation Center, featuring John Gabriel and his band, Del Sinchak and his band, and Mike D and his band.

Admission is $10.

Military bands coming to park


Two military band concerts will come to the Maag Outdoor Theatre at Boardman Park.

In celebration of Independence Day, the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast will perform Saturday at 8 p.m., with fireworks to follow around 9:45. The Band of the Northeast represents the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, the United States Air National Guard and the United States Air Force in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. The concert will be at the Boardman High School Performing Arts Center, 4444 Glenwood Ave., in case of rain.

On July 8, the park will present Family Night featuring a 6:30 p.m. concert by the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors at Maag. The Jazz Ambassadors, a 19-member ensemble, is the official touring big band of the U.S. Army.

The evening will also include children’s bouncers, wagon rides and balloons beginning at 6 p.m. Jock-O the Balloon Man will entertain after the concert, and the film “Miracle” will be screened at dark.

Admission is free and food concessions will be available at both shows. Guests can bring lawn chairs or blankets.
