Mass to mark wedding anniversaries of 145 couples

Bishop George V. Murry will celebrate a special Mass at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave., to mark the wedding anniversaries of 145 couples who are being honored for a total of 6,366 years of wedded life ranging from 25 to 73 years.

The Wedding Anniversary Celebration includes renewal of marriage vows at Mass and a personalized certificate. A reception will follow Mass in the Cathedral Hall for the honored couples and their families, hosted by St. Christine Parish.

Father’s Day, anniversary

Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will host a celebration for Father’s Day and Pastor Wilkins’ 25th anniversary with a week’s worth of events.

The events begin with the weekly service at 3 p.m. June 18 with Rev. Jeffery Stanford presiding. The celebration will continue at 7 p.m. June 19 with the Rev. Larry Parker, June 20 with the Rev. Frank Christian, June 21 with the Rev. C.L. Ellis and June 22 with the Rev. David Moncrief.

There will be a Musical with Mighty Sons of Joy, featuring special guest John Lee Wallace and other singers and mime groups at 7 p.m. June 23. The Rev. Jenkins will preside over the 4 p.m. service June 25. The public is welcome to attend.

Looking for VBS volunteers

St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., is looking for volunteers to help create and make decorations for the annual Girard churches’ Vacation Bible School, titled “Maker Fun Factory.”

Volunteers will be needed from 2 to 5 p.m. June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. June 22 and from 6 to 8 p.m. June 23.

Decorating and Vacation Bible School will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St.

Volunteers are asked to bring ideas and scissors.

Ministry plans bus trips

Jesus the Key Ministry invites the public to join them on their upcoming bus trips. On June 21-22, they will travel to Dearborn, Mich. A trip to the Creation Museum and Noah’s Ark in Kentucky is set July 25 and 26. And finally, they will travel to Lancaster, Pa., on Aug. 30 and 31.

Marriage workshop

Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave., is hosting a two-day marriage workshop featuring the Rev. Dr. M. Mike McNair and his wife, Dr. Linda McNair, on June 23-24.

The June 23 session will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and the June 24 session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The workshop is free, but a free-will offering will be collected.

The McNairs, certified marriage counselors, will provide information on how couples can refresh their love lives, enhance their marriages and how to develop new skills to build marital relationships.

The Rev. Kenneth M. Donaldson is pastor of the host church.

The Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education is hosting an information meeting about the Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry Extension Studies Program at 7 p.m. June 29 at St. Michael Parish Family Center, 300 N. Broad St.

Participants will find out more about course requirements, tuition, spiritual formation, financial assistance and application for a graduate religious education or pastoral studies degree or for a continuing education certificate from Loyola University New Orleans.
