Students rode their bicycles into Poland North Preschool on May 5 for the St. Jude Trike-a-Thon.
Although the rain prevented the students from riding outside, they brought their bicycles into the gym and rode around. Students from Danielle Argeras, Joy Bucci and Samantha Cox’s class filled the gym and rode around with their friends and classmates. Each class took turns riding around the gym until the end, when all three classes rode together.
The St. Jude Trike-a-Thon fundraiser is something that is close to Cox, the transitional kindergarten teacher. Cox’s sister was admitted to St. Jude as a child and received amazing treatment from the staff. St. Jude provides treatment and care to children with no cost to the family. No child will be turned down because of their family’s inability to pay.
Parents and family members of the students came to watch and take pictures as the students rode around. This is the second year that the students at North preschool has hosted a Trike-a-Thon. Last year the children raised more than $1,000 to donate and are hoping to raise more this year.
The Trike-a-Thon raises awareness for trike safety and gives the students exercise while supporting the children of St. Jude. It provides a way for children to help other children in a fun way.
Trike-a-Thons are hosted nation-wide and more information on hosting a Trike-a-Thon or becoming involved in one can be found on the St. Jude website.
