Several children crawled their way into the Poland library on May 6.

Jen Kuczek, Poland librarian, put together a program for children to explore different activities associated with the book “A Very Hungry Caterpillar,” by Eric Carle. The program began with an interactive story time to get the children and their families familiar with the book. After Kuczek read the book, there were several stations set up that were related to caterpillars, butterflies and the book.

Children could make crafts, play a “Feed the Caterpillar” game, color and engage in other hands-on activities. Many of the activities had an educational aspect to them relating to caterpillars or butterflies.

Kuczek said she enjoys organizing programs like this because they get the children moving around and involved in learning through different games. It gives the opportunity for children to get into the library and spend time with their family and friends.
