BEES IN YOUR BACKYARD

When: Aug. 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

What: Author and biologist Olivia Carril will review bee biology, practice hands-on bee identification through microscopes and explore plants and bees in field activities.

Where: Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, Canfield.

Details: Olivia has been studying bees for more than 20 years and is the author of “The Bees in Your Backyard, A Field Guide to North America’s Bees.”

Cost: $65 for the day, including lunch. For $15 more, you get Olivia’s book.

Reptile, Amphibian Show

What: Bring the whole family to the Reptile & Amphibian Show to learn more about these impressive creatures from experts and through engaging activities. Members of the Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists and Keith Gisser of “Herps Alive” will have their menageries on exhibit.
