YPD investigates four robberies over weekend
Police are investigating four robberies from over the weekend, three with guns.
About 3:05 p.m. Monday, a woman told police she was robbed of her purse in the 500 block of Kendis Circle after she arranged online to meet someone there to sell a video game. No gun was seen, reports said.
About 1 a.m. Sunday, a man told police he was leaving a birthday party in the 2600 block of Tyrell Avenue when two men with guns demanded money, hit him in the head with a gun and took $56. Reports said the robbers shouted, “Give it up! Give it up old school!” at the victim, who also told police he knew the two men.
About 9 p.m. Friday, a man was hit in the head with a gun in the 1200 block of Market Street and robbed of $80.
About 12:55 p.m. Friday, a man cleaning out a vacant apartment on Alameda Avenue was robbed at gunpoint by a man who said he wanted to look at the apartment. Taken were cash, phones and jewelry, reports said. Police searched the area for the suspect but could not find him, reports said.
Last weekend, police also had armed robberies to investigate Jan. 8 and Jan. 6. No arrests have been made in any of those cases. All three of those robberies happened on the South Side.
