Bond was set at $100,000 for Joseph A. Leasock, 50, of Grant Street in Niles, when he was arraigned Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on a kidnapping charge.
Leasock was indicted last week on kidnapping and a separate robbery charge, both of which involve his brother, Robert B. Leasock, 44, also of the Grant Street address.
Joseph Leasock will be arraigned on the robbery charge Wednesday before Judge W. Wyatt McKay. Robert Leasock also will be arraigned Wednesday on his charges.
According to Weathersfield police, the kidnapping charges accuse the Leasock brothers of abducting a man, 43, from a location in Niles Oct. 1 and taking him to a home on Barcelona Avenue in Weathersfield, where they assaulted him.
The next day they took him back to his home in Niles and released him, police said.
The victim’s father reported the victim was taken to the hospital and was in intensive care for internal injuries as a result of the beating.
The Leasock brothers also are charged with robbery in a July 21 incident in which a man, 56, of state Route 46 in Weathersfield reported being assaulted by both Leasocks, who then took his cellphone and left.
The victim in the October kidnapping also was at the victim’s house at the time of the July 21 incident, police said.
Both Leasocks also are charged with a specification calling both men repeat violent offenders. If convicted, each brother could get about 20 years in prison.
