WFMJ’s Madonna Chism Pinkard paid a visit to the fourth-grade students at Robinwood Lane Elementary on Feb. 6 to talk about Black History Month.
The students have been learning about Black History Month in class and having a special guests come in got them even more intrigued. Pinkard spoke to the students about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr and how they worked hard to make a change.
Fourth-grade teacher Jan Zorman was one of Pinkard’s teachers and Pinkard loves to come back to the school whenever Zorman invites her. Pinkard has visited before for Black History Month and for other events the students are participating in.
The children sat around Pinkard as she talked about Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks and other important factors of Black History Month. Students raised their hands and asked questions or added comments they had for Pinkard.
One student was especially vocal during Pinkard’s visit. Zorman said this was the most she ever heard the student talk. Many of the students chimed in about things they had learned prior to Pinkard’s visit. Pinkard was impressed by everything the students already knew about Black History Month.
Pinkard looks forward to visiting Zorman and all of the Robinwood students. She likes to come in and spread her knowledge while listening to what the students have to say and seeing their reactions.
