Warren police investigating videotaping in business restroom

Staff report

WARREN

Police are investigating after the owner of Bones Tires on Niles Road Southeast reported finding out an employee was videotaping several of his relatives using the restroom at the business.

It was discovered when a female relative used the restroom last week and heard something vibrating. She found a phone behind a hole in a piece of fabric in the garbage can. It was videotaping.

The store’s owner and others watched the video and could see the face of the employee putting the phone in place. The phone contained videos of other people also. And they looked through other phones, small cameras and a computer and found other recordings of their family, they said.

The owner spoke with the employee on the phone and the employee admitted he has a “problem” and was sorry. The family has not seen him since that conversation, however.

The owner said the employee had been like a brother to him and an uncle to his kids and had worked for him about four years.
