Domestic violence calls keep city police busy
YOUNGSTOWN — Police were kept busy this weekend with several domestic violence calls.
About 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jesse Shiflett, 23, of East Midlothian Boulevard, was arrested at a Mt. Vernon Avenue home where reports said a woman called police and said Shiflett punched her in the face.
When police arrived, Shiflett ran but was later caught. He also has two outstanding warrants, reports said.
Just after 11 p.m. Saturday Erica Stewart, 39, was arrested at her East Midlothian Boulevard home just minutes after police left her home on a domestic complaint. Reports said police found broken furniture and glass and blood splatters inside.
Stewart told police her daughter broke her couch after sitting on it and then the two fought.
Reports said the daughter was also taken into custody. Her name was not available today.
About 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Bryan Treharn, 42, was arrested at his Hartzell Avenue home after reports said a woman there told police he punched her in the face several times.
Reports said police took a loaded 9mm handgun from the home for safekeeping because Treharn and his girlfriend appeared to be intoxicated.
