YSU marching band plans two events
Youngstown State University’s Marching Pride has scheduled two events to mark the beginning of the marching band season.
Meet the Marching Pride, a preview of the music the YSU marching band will perform during football games this fall, will take place Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium. The event is free and open to the public, although donations will be accepted.
On Sept. 2, the Marching Pride will perform during half time of the Penguins’ season opener against the University of Pittsburgh Panthers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
The YSU office of alumni engagement and the Penguin Club are hosting a Floating Tailgate on the Gateway Clipper that day from 10 a.m. to noon before the 1 p.m. kickoff.
Pricing is $35 per person for YSU alumni or Penguin Club members and $40 for the general public, which includes a buffet lunch and cash bar. Reservations must be made by next Friday at ysu.edu/alumni/pitt or by calling alumni engagement at 330-941-3119. Game tickets in Section 518 are available through the YSU ticket office at 330-941-1978.
Brandt Payne, director of athletic bands, said the Marching Pride has more than 170 members.
