ASSOCIATIONS

Mahoning Valley Real Estate Investors Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Boardman Park. Larry Goins will speak on how to take a rundown, $5,000 home and earn more money than a typical investor will. Admission is free for first-time guests with a meal option for $7. Reservations are not necessary but are appreciated. Visit Mahoning Valley REIA on Facebook to make reservations.

Campbell Memorial High School Class of 1963 will meet at noon Wednesday at Cassese’s MVR, 410 N. Walnut St., Youngstowny. All classmates, spouses and guests are welcome. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month.

Rayen High School Class of 1962 will celebrate its 55th class reunion Sept. 2. Call 330-758-5207 or 330-502-5214 for information and reservations. All classmates are invited.

Struthers High School Class of 1954 will meet for breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday at Denny’s in Boardman. Classmates and guests are welcome. No reservations are needed. Come meet and greet old friends.

Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 21 at Johnny’s Restaurant, Market Street, Boardman. Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1965 will celebrate its 70th birthday with a barbecue that will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Youngstown Shrine Club pavilion, 1735 W. South Range Road, North Lima. Guests are welcome.

CLUBS

Moose Club is looking for former and prospective members in the Youngstown and Niles area to begin meetings. Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club will have its August monthly meeting on Tuesday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road in Cornersburg. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. with the meeting following at 7. The topic for discussion will be the club’s third year of participation providing voluntary communication services to event organizers and first responders at the annual 2017 Panerathon to benefit the Joanie Abdu Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to be held Aug. 27. POLITICAL CLUBS

Trumbull County Republican Party will meet for its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. Aug. 19 at the TopNotch Diner, 628 High St., Cortland. Guest speaker will be Sarah Fowler, a state board of education member who will speak about the repeal of Common Core. All participants order and pay for a breakfast from the menu. All like-minded people are welcome.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

St. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the parish house.

SERVICE CLUBS

Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St., Girard.

P.E.O. Ohio Chapter CE will have its regular meeting at noon Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon Street. The program is “Travels in China” with presenters Marilyn and Terry Samuels. Hostesses will be Johanna Nuzzo and Karen Dennison.

SINGLES

D.A.R.E. has scheduled the following activities: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, bowling at Boardman Lanes; 6 p.m. Tuesday, Bocce in Boardman Park; 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, music at Morley Pavilion, McClurg Road; 7:30 p.m. Thursday, small talk night at the church; and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, card night at Denny’s on state Route 224 in Boardman.

SOCIETIES

Poland Historical Society will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road, (Rt. 224) at the Struthers Road intersection. There will not be a program following this meeting. Special interest programs following meetings will resume in September with a presentation about the “History of Poland Churches”.

William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 at Kravitz’s Deli, 3135 Belmont Ave. Special guest, Senator Harry Meshel, retired Ohio congressman and former head of the Ohio Democratic Party, will retell growing up on Youngstown’s East Side and the heyday of the Mahoning Valley.

World War II Heritage Society will meet at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 21 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. A buffet dinner precedes the speaker at a cost of $14. Carl Will, a local veteran, will be the speaker. Reservations must be made with David Frank at 330-757-0515.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet as follows: noon Saturday at Sunrise Senior Living, 335 W. McKinley Way, Poland, call 330-707-1313 for reservations; 7 p.m., Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St.; 10 a.m. Friday at Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad Street, Canfield. Caregiver Support Group will meet Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yellow Brick Place, 2959 Canfield Road, Suite 10.

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sheepfold Ministries, 233 North Ave. Sharon, Pa. A meeting also will take place at 7 p.m. at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main Street, Hubbard. The support group was formed to reach out to help families who have lost loved ones to alcohol or substance abuse.

Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group meets from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. People who are trying to overcome any addiction are welcome and encouraged to attend. Those attending should enter through the church’s lower parking lot off Wardle.

Kick Butt Colorectal Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Yellow Brick Place, 2959 Canfield Road, Suite 10.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups meet as follows: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St., and Austintown Family Support Group, 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court. NAMI Connection, a support group for people with a mental health diagnosis meets at the following locations: 1:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown; 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays at Alta Care in Austintown; and NAMI Connection for the dual diagnosed at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
