Sunset - Full Moon Hike

When: Monday, 8-9:30pm

What: A summer sunset with a full moon rising will be the perfect twilight backdrop for a venture out in the Wildlife Sanctuary.

Where: Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, 2650 West Calla Road, Beaver Township.

Cost: Free

BEES IN YOUR BACKYARD

When: Saturday, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

What: Author and biologist Olivia Carril will review bee biology, practice hands-on bee identification through microscopes and explore plants and bees in field activities.

Where: Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, Canfield.

Details: Olivia has been studying bees for more than 20 years and is the author of “The Bees in Your Backyard, A Field Guide to North America’s Bees.”

Cost: $65 for the day, including lunch. For $15 more, you get Olivia’s book.

Reptile, Amphibian Show

When: Sunday, 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.

What: Bring the whole family to the Reptile & Amphibian Show to learn more about these impressive creatures from experts and through engaging activities. Members of the Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists and Keith Gisser of “Herps Alive” will have their menageries on exhibit.

Where: MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield.

URBAN GARDEN TOUR

When: Monday, 6-8 p.m.

What: Join OSU Extension staff and trained master gardener volunteers to learn about growing vegetables and see growing in action in Youngstown, focusing on the city’s newest Urban Orchard.

Where: Hope for Newport Community Garden, 420 Clearmount Ave., Youngstown.

Cost: Free.

Children’s Nature Hour

When: Next Thursday, 10-11 a.m.

What: Not all turtles swim. Join us as we meet and discover the Eastern Box Turtle. A story and short hike are part of the experience.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: $4 for Mahoning County residents, $6 NR. Additional fee after deadline.

Details: Age 3 to 6 plus adult. Register/pay at Ford Nature Center by Tuesday.

Family Tour Thursdays

What: Every Thursday through the summer explore the MetroParks Farm with a tour guide.
