AUCTIONS

Immaculate Heart of Mary Social Concerns Committee will have a Quarter Auction fundraiser Oct. 22 in the IHM Parish Center, 4500 Norquest Blvd,, Austintown. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the auction will start at 7. Tickets are $10 per person and include an auction paddle, homemade desserts, coffee, pop and water. Bidding will be on a variety of gift baskets and gift cards for adults and kids. Take quarters, snacks and beverages. Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 Meridian Road, will be the location of a quarter auction benefit for the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for cancer research on Thursday. Autographed Ohio State sports memorabilia will be among various prizes offered at the “Buckeyes Blast Cancer” event. It also will benefit Camp Quality Ohio, which provides a summer camping experience and year-round support for children with cancer. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 6. Tickets are $5 and include a soft drink, snack, a bidding paddle and a door prize ticket. There will be more than 100 prizes, gift baskets, and door prizes. Pizza slices will cost $1. Items to be raffled include a variety of general gifts as well as many OSU autographed prizes, signed by more than 20 players and coaches, including Meyer, Cardale Jones, Archie Griffin and AJ Hawk. BINGO/CARD PARTIES

Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church is sponsoring bingo Oct. 2 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista, Youngstown. Doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m. They will be the same format as Monday and Wednesday bingos.

BOOK SALES

Friends of the Community Library of the Shenango Valley will host a used book sale Oct. 5 through 8 in the library basement, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, Pa. The sale includes books, magazines, puzzles and audiovisual material. All of the proceeds are donated to the library. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8. Stop any additional donations until Nov. 1. CASINO NIGHTS

Austintown American Legion Post 301, 3652 Oakwood Ave., will host a Las Vegas Night and basket raffle at 7 p.m. Oct. 1. Tickets will be sold at the door at $5 per person.

CRAFT SHOWS

American Association of University Women is sponsoring a craft and vendor show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St., Warren. Admission is free and there also will be a bake sale and lunch available. The cost to reserve an eight-foot table and two chairs is $25. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center.14 E. State St., is hosting a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12. Vendors are welcome and tables are $10 each. FUNDRAISERS

The Cure Starts Now, Northeast Ohio Chapter, is sponsoring a fundraiser for brain cancer research. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Casseses’ MVR, 401 N. Walnut St., Youngstown. NIGHTS AT THE RACES

RAFFLES

Austintown Alumni Association is offering a raffle to raise money for its scholarship fund. Tickets will be sold for $1 each or six for $5. Raffle winners will be chosen at the Austintown Fitch Hall of Fame football game at Falcon Stadium on Friday. First prize is $500; second, $200 in gift certificates from local businesses; and third, a dinner for two at Rachel’s Restaurant and at The Manor. Profits will support the association’s scholarship fund, which awarded $6,000 to Fitch seniors Class of 2016. Tickets will be on sale during the game, or in advance by contacting Alumni members or president Lynn Larson at 330-518-5727.

SALES

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m .to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. No early sales. Half off and bag sale day will be Saturday. Proceeds will be used for the church choir, Women’s Group and Cancer Relay for Life Team who will serve food during the day. Homemade soup by the bowl and quart will be for sale, pie slices and other food items. Other items for sale will be kitchen items, toys, furniture, tools, clothes, books and miscellaneous. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. No tires, televisions or computers will be accepted. Food items must be dropped off Wednesday. Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for entire family. September sales will include teens through adult clothing at $1 per item. Children’s clothing through size 10 is 70 percent off. TRIPS

Altar and Rosary Society of St. Stephen of Hungary Church, Holy Apostle Parish of Youngstown, is sponsoring a one-day pilgrimage Sept. 25 to Our Lady of Consolation Shrine in Carey, Ohio.
