Local comic creators to gather

The second annual Youngstown Independent Comic Expo will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 6690 Ironwood Blvd., The expo showcases local comic book writers and artists, and several comic creators will be selling copies of their works, including Craig Latchaw, Nate Dray, Kelci Crawford and Elise Petrise.

Also on hand will be representatives from Enyx studios, who will demonstrate their virtual-reality horror video game.

There will be several panels during the day where creators will discuss their work, why they are drawn to creating their own characters and where the future will take them.

Admission to the family-friendly show is free, but donations will be accepted at a donation jar.

Here is the schedule:

11 a.m.: Show opens.

1 p.m.: “Small Press Comics ... Why Would You Want To Do That?” A five-person panel hosted by Bob Corby of Back Porch Comics.

2 p.m.: Enyx studios. Don Hileman and crew will be on hand to speak about their new virtual-reality horror game.

3 p.m.: “The Art Community and Comic Books,” hosted by Craig Latchaw, who has written and drawn comic books and had gallery shows.

3:30 p.m.: “Patron and Patron Saint.” She’s an artist. He sends her a few bucks a month. Carlos Rivera and Kelci Crawford talk about www.patreon.com.

4 p.m.: Yo-ICE 2017: Yes there will be a third Yo-ICE. Come sit down and give your ideas or find out how you can become involved.

4:30 p.m.: Panel (topic to be announced).

5 p.m.: The second annual Yo-ICE pizza party and award ceremony.
