Opera Western Reserve’s “Carmen,” Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will have auditions at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 for chorus members. The performance will be Nov. 11. “Harry’s Friendly Service,” an original play by Rob Zellers, will be Sept. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Youngstown Playhouse, and Sept. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. Pat Foltz is the director. The show requires five males (ages ranging from late 20s to 60s) and two females (approximately ages 20 and 60). Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. “Pinocchio,” by the Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater, will hold auditions Sept. and 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Playhouse. The non-musical show, based on Carlo Collodi’s classic story, requires a wide age range of actors and actresses (age 7 to adult). David El’Hatton will direct the production, which will run Nov. 4, 5 and 6, with school matinee performances on Nov. 3 and 4. Call 330-788-8739.

“Nativity: The Hope,” auditions will be Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children at Youngstown Playhouse. Karen Clark Green will direct this Christmastime production. Auditionees are asked to prepare a brief song and/or monologue, and a demonstration of any specialty dance abilities are welcome (movement will be required at the audition). Auditions for adults will be as follows: singers Sept. 19 from 6-9 p.m.; “triple threats” (singer/actor/dancers), Sept. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and dancers, Sept. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. Singers are asked to bring a song, and dancers are asked to bring music for a piece in their style (ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, breaking, popping, animators, jazz, lyrical). All auditionees may be asked to read, sing and/or dance. The production team is also seeking a tall male bodybuilder. Approximately 45 roles are available.
