As they were announced, the players and their escorts walked through the double line of their teammates after they were greeted by Head Coach Phil Simone, Girls Assistant Coach Aleesha Ostrander and Girls Assistant Coach Chris Sekman.
“This is a special group. I have been working with some of them since they were 10- or 11-years-old. I can’t believe they are this far along in their soccer career. It’s incredible. It is surreal to me that they are going to graduate and not be involved in our soccer program any longer,” Simone said.
Canfield High School student council provided the flowers for the players’ parents.
As part of the celebration, before the game began, the 10 senior members led their team in running through a hoop banner which recognized the seniors.
The Canfield High School Soccer Boosters had a reception in the high school’s cafeteria after the varsity team’s 2-1 victory over Warren for the families and teammates of the 10 senior team members. The cafeteria was decorated by the parents of the junior players to honor the senior players, as is the Canfield High School soccer tradition.
