YOUNGSTOWN

People arrested over the weekend on felony drug charges were arraigned this week in municipal court.

Reports said Robert Duval, 36, of Bissell Avenue was pulled over about 1:50 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill and West Marion avenues on the South Side after he was spotted driving at high speed and running several red lights on Market Street.

Duval told police he was driving fast because his wife was having a baby and he was going to the hospital to meet her. When officers told him he was going the opposite direction of the hospital, reports said Duval told police it was his girlfriend who was having the baby “at the crib.”

Reports said police could smell marijuana coming from the car. When Duval was searched, police found three bags of suspected marijuana and a bag of suspected heroin. He also had $528 cash, reports said.

Duval was taken to the Mahoning County jail. He was arraigned on charges of possession of heroin and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $12,500 by Judge Elizabeth Kobly.

About 5:25 p.m. Sunday, police pulled over a car driven by Dejuan Coman, 25, of Youngstown, because of several air fresheners hanging from his rearview mirror which obstructed his vision.

Reports said Coman’s car smelled heavily of marijuana and that he has a suspended license. Coman told police he had a small amount of marijuana. When he was searched, police also found nine pills, reports said, and $172 cash.

Police searched the car before it was towed because Coman has a suspended license. Inside the car police found two bags of suspected crack cocaine, a bag of suspected marijuana, two mason jars of suspected marijuana, a scale and a rock of suspected crack cocaine.

Coman was arraigned on charges of trafficking in marijuana, possession of drugs, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $30,000. The cocaine charge is a first-degree felony because of the amount of drugs that were found.
