Youngstown State junior Courtney Shutt finished sixth to lead the Penguins women’s golf team at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational which concluded on Tuesday at the Youngstown Country Club.
Akron won the event with a two-round 595 after carding a 300 on Tuesday. Oakland was second with a 619 (309-310), Cleveland State placed third with a 626 (315-311), YSU finished fourth with a 637 (319-318), Saint Francis (Pa.) was fifth with a 655 and Niagara was sixth with a 671.
Shutt carded a 78 on Tuesday and finished the event with a two-round total of 153. Freshman Reva Morris finished 10th with a 158. Morris finished with a 78 on Tuesday after carding an opening round 80.
Also finishing 10th was freshman Katlyn Shutt at 158. Shutt had a second-round 81 to go with her opening round 77.
Megan Creager, who competed as an individual, finished 20th with a 164 (79-85) while Haliegh Guerrero, who also was an individual, had a 167 (82-85) and was 25th.
Mia Barchetti was 28th with a 168 (87-81) and Christina Cooper placed 30th with a 169 (88-81).
The Penguins close out the fall portion of their schedule on Monday and Tuesday at the Dayton Flyers Invitational.
