The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering a flu- shot clinic Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Poland Township Administration Building, 3339 Dobbins Road.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over 6 months of age get an influenza vaccine. No appointment is necessary.
Participants must bring their insurance cards, driver’s license, and Medicare and Medicaid cards so the cost of the vaccine can be billed.
Available flu vaccines and their costs are: Quadrivalant (4 flu virus strains), $40; quadrivalant (4 flu virus strains) short needle intra-dermal, $40; and the high-dose trivalent (3 flu virus strains) for people 65 and older, $55.
Assisted living facility to have garage sale
Shepherd of the Valley, 1500 McKinley Ave., will have an open house and garage sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The public is invited to tour the independent apartments, skilled nursing and assisted living building.
Residents are having a garage sale in the Community Center. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are not required.
Ex-NBA referee will discuss gambling addiction Sunday
Tim Donaghy, a motivational speaker and former 13-year National Basketball Association referee, will discuss his recovery from the gambling addiction that ended his career, at 7 p.m. Sunday at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly Center.
The free lecture is sponsored by Meridian HealthCare, the Mahoning and Trumbull County mental health and recovery boards and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Health fair/flu shot set
New Castle, pa.
A health fair and flu-shot clinic at the downtown New Castle Community YMCA will be Oct. 20 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The health fair is open to all active older adults.
