Show to feature magician, ventriloquist
Youngstown Magic Club will present its annual Night Of Comedy and Magic on Saturday, featuring Jeff Hobson and Ken Groves.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at LaBrae High School auditorium, 1001 N. Leavitt Road.
The club has been in existence since the 1920s and is one of the nation’s oldest and most-active clubs.
Tickets are $15 and include a chance to win one of several gift baskets. To purchase tickets in advance, call 330-883-0513 or 330-307-4928.
Members of the club will perform strolling and close-up magic for an hour before the show.
Hobson mixes comedy and magic in his act. He has appeared on HBO, Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, Fox Family’s Masters of Illusion, NBC’s “World’s Greatest Magic” and Thames Television’s “Magic Comedy Strip,” a 16-week series in England.
During his performance, Hobson tiptoes throughout the audience, and for his finale, he returns a dozen wristwatches to the surprise and shock of guests.
Hobson has performed at Las Vegas casinos and was part of the cast of Spellbound at Harrah’s, which lasted more than four years.
He also has worked aboard Norwegian’s Cruise Line’s newest ship, The Getaway, and is touring with The Illusionists, the highest-grossing magic show of all time.
Groves is a ventriloquist who has performed in large and small venues across the world.
He has appeared on “The Arsenio Hall Show” and America’s Talking network.
