Method 8 to screen latest film in its ‘Escobar’ series

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Local production company Method 8 will premiere the third film in its “Land of Escobar” series at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn on South Avenue. Admission is free.

Titled “The Land of Escobar Part 3: The Messenger and the Time Trapper,” the locally made film’s cast includes Harmony Defrank, Joyce Jones, Jason Scott, Solomon Kennedy and James Jones of Youngstown; Adrianna, Delaney and Morgan Malley of Struthers; Cassandra and Victor Arcenio of Canfield; Jennifer Milligan of Boardman; LaShawn Conner and Kiara Evans of Cleveland; and Mikayla Maxwell of Niles.

Brian K. West, who wrote and directed the film, also stars in it. West is the director of Method 8, and the new film is his fifth.

“Short independent films are tough to produce,” said West. “You have to find reliable people to play the parts, but we got it done. I’m very confident that with more support from the local community, we can produce many more projects. My goal is to keep producing projects until I pass out.”

The new film, which runs 45 minutes, is a science-fiction piece about a group of citizens and elites from Escobar who get trapped in a fake dimension by a rebellious witch who has imprisoned the Dreamer. In the previous films, it was established that the Dreamer, who is the protagonist, was born to save Escobar. In the newest installment, the citizens must find a way to save themselves.

Sunday’s screening will begin by honoring the actors and crew involved in the new film. To purchase “Part 3” or any of the more than 200 films, books, series of other projects completed by Method 8, go to method8inc.com.
