Hynes pact ratified


The United Steel Workers Local 2377 has ratified a new three-year agreement with Hynes Industries of Austintown.

The agreement, which covers 114 members in production and maintenance, passed 71-20 in a Saturday vote.

Jose Arroyo, business representative for the USW, said the contract includes wage increases across the board and additional wage increases for skilled-trades workers, affordable health care, approved contract language and enhanced sick and accident benefits.

Hynes Industries, located at 3805 Henricks Road, is a custom metal products shop.

Safety training classes


A safety-training session for farms selling produce will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohio State University Extension Office, 520 W. Main St., No. 1.

The educational course covers good agricultural practices – GAPs – which help reduce the risk of on-farm produce contamination. Topics covered include water quality for pre- and post-harvest, worker training, health and hygiene, and domestic and wild animal issues. To register, call 330-533-5538.
