Warren man pleads no contest to gun charges, found guilty

WARREN — Tre Vaughn L. Walker, 23, of Stewart Drive Northwest, younger brother of two men in the center of chaotic events in October 2013, pleaded no contest today to two gun charges.

Walker could be sentenced to up to three years in prison after the Trumbull County Adult Probation Department conducts a pre-sentence investigation.

Warren police said they found a loaded handgun under a book bag in the back seat of a car in which Walker was a passenger, after police observed his driver fail to stop at a stop sign in June at Colonial Street and Niles Road Southeast.

Police submitted the gun for DNA analysis and determined that Walker’s DNA was on it, Chuck Morrow, assistant county prosecutor, told Judge Peter Kontos, who found Walker guilty.

Walker served a 10-day jail sentence in March after being convicted in Warren Municipal Court of failure to comply with the orders of a police officer. The October incident involved a car and foot chase with Warren police on Warren’s West Side.

Walker is the brother of Taemarr Walker, 24, who died in October 2013 in a confrontation with a Warren police officer on Risher Road Southwest.
