Lepper Library to host reading challenge

Families are invited to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Lepper Public Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way.

Families with children from newborn to 5 years old are eligible for the challenge.

Registration for the free program is from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 11.

The event is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children.

By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000-book goal in three years and provide their children with early literacy skills.

Sharing books with children promotes a lifelong love of books and reading.
