Trolley will take visitors to the Garden District for walking/riding tours

Staff report

The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, along with the Garden District and the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, is sponsoring the third annual Garden Crawl and Party at the Porch events Friday.

The revitalization of Warren’s oldest neighborhood will be featured, with gardens, land use, public art, and housing efforts being showcased to the public, said Matt Martin, TNP executive director.

This free event features walking tours of the Garden District, leaving at 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. from the “Info Porch” at 195 Belmont Ave. NE.

Visitors are encouraged to park at the Warren Amphitheater where free shuttle service on a trolley to and from the event will be available. Trolley service is available from 4 to 6 p.m., with trolley tours available for those unable to walk.

“This event represents an opportunity to share a true neighborhood revitalization story as it unfolds in Warren,” Martin said.

The walking tour will stop at a dozen project sites in the Garden District, including the latest mural, multiple community gardens and other community-driven projects developed by residents to beautify their neighborhood.

Following the Garden Hop, the public is invited to the Party at the Porch, a block-party style picnic with free food, refreshments and music, raffles and prizes provided through donations from several local businesses and organizations.

The community is invited to end the day at the Warren Amphitheater for a free reggae concert by Carlos Jones from 7 to 9 p.m.

“TNP and FACT have teamed up the past few years to host free live reggae in downtown Warren after the Garden Hop, and we hope for a huge turnout again this year to see renowned artist Carlos Jones,” said Bill Mullane, member of the FACT board.

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is a nonprofit community development corporation serving the neighborhoods of Warren.
