Students from Poland Union and Dobbins Elementary arrived at Poland Seminary High School in their Halloween costumes on Oct. 28 ready to parade around the field.

The students were divided into their classes and each class walked around the football field showing off their costumes to the family members and friends who came to watch. As the classes walked around, there was a camera set up recording the students and projecting them onto the scoreboard allowing all of the guests to see the students and their costumes up-close.

Parents lined up against the fences to get pictures of their children that have been looking forward to the parade since they were told about it. Several of the parents said their children couldn’t stop talking about the parade and how excited they were to walk around with their friends in a costume.

PTO members volunteered to help make the parade a success. There were hundreds of students who walked along the field with the help from PTO members and teachers.

The parade was a “Boo to Drugs” parade in honor of Red Ribbon Week coming to an end. Both schools participated in Red Ribbon Week and each day did something different to bring attention to the drug prevention program. As students walked around the field, videos the students created about Red Ribbon Week played on the scoreboard for the guests to watch and see what the students were involved in during the week.

The annual parade gives students the opportunity to dress up in their costumes early and end the school week on a good note.
