The Poland library hosted a Halloween Howls event on Oct. 25 for children to attend and get into the Halloween spirit.
Amanda Kollar, youth librarian, created the program for children to come in their costumes and play different Halloween-themed games. Most of the children who came to the event came dressed up in a costume eager to participate.
The program started out with the children creating their own ghost out of a paper plate, crepe paper, glue and crayons. After most of the children arrived, Kollar played the story on tape “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything,” before the children played some games.
When the story was over, the children played Halloween Bingo and the winners, along with the other children, could pick out a prize. The next game the children played was similar to a musical chairs game. The children picked a Halloween picture to stand by in the library and if Kollar pulled out the picture the child was standing by, they were out. The game was played until one child was left and they were the winner.
The children were then able to go on their own and finish their ghost craft, play a witch hat ring toss or play a bean bag pumpkin toss game until it was time to go home.
