Special to The Vindicator
Chemical Bank has been named the presenting sponsor of the Youngstown Marathon set for June 4, 2017, in downtown Youngstown.
The bank, which recently transitioned from Talmer Bank and Trust to Chemical Bank, has formally signed with the Youngstown Marathon to become the presenting sponsor of the city’s first marathon.
“I am delighted to partner with Chemical Bank. Their dedication to strong, local community leadership fits perfectly with our goal to produce a positive economic impact on the City of Youngstown. As we move forward, we are certain this will be a great event for runners, spectators, sponsors, and the city,” said Race Director Courtney Poullas.
The Youngstown Marathon is set to be a community affair and will take place June 4, 2017, with the trail winding around the city and through Mill Creek Park. In addition to the marathon expo, companies and organizations around the area will be holding events in conjunction with the marathon. A full list of community events will be available on the Youngstown Marathon website as they become available.
“We are excited to play a key role in the Youngstown Marathon, which challenges people to reach new achievements in their lives,” said Mark Wenick, Regional President, Mahoning Valley of Chemical Bank. “This race is a way to enrich and revitalize downtown Youngstown and bring people together for health information, fitness and some good old-fashioned fun.”
The first Youngstown Marathon is the brainchild of avid runners in the area including Youngstown resident and Race Director Courtney Poullas. She is a certified running coach with the Road Runners Club of America, Owner and President of Bold Speed Ahead, LLC Run Coaching & Race Directing Services, and is an avid cheerleader for the City of Youngstown. The Youngstown Marathon drives to support the community in health, support local causes, and support economic revitalization.
